I love Saturdays.

Don't get me wrong; I appreciate Monday through Friday, those days that we devote to education and work and hefty medical procedures and court trials, but those days lack the magic of Saturday. Sunday is okay, but we've mostly used up its hours with church and eating and friends and family. The little bit that was left of Sunday was hijacked by professional sports presentations on TV. Besides, Sunday gets weird from the beginning because people clean up. They put on their "Sunday best" in the morning and they are then unfit for dirt duty, like cleaning the garage, which is about the most fun a person can have.
Saturday is the one day of the week that is unpredictable, open, and full of possibilities. People are allowed to sleep in on Saturdays, and when they wake they can curl up with hot coffee and watch their choice of informercials or old movies, either of which will blissfully remove them from reality. With the same abandon that you learn NONO will free you from unwanted body hair you can become absorbed in the love stories on Lifetime. The world is your oyster on Saturday; no appointments, no worries, no job. Saturdays belong to coffee and yard sales and lying in bed for hours and wearing underwear around the house.
Saturdays are about you. What do you think? Where are you going? What would you really like to do today?
Saturday is your day. Go ahead, take it.
