Sunday Ride

A recent photo showing my husband posing with our son and Mini
Yesterday I joined my son and his wife for a Sunday ride. They picked me up in their vintage Mini Cooper, which I think of as the Mr. Bean car, only not yellow with a black hood.
They gave me the front seat, fearing that if I rode in the back, certain of my body parts could get wedged upon exit.
We zoomed around country roads, proving it's possible to drive on two wheels, until I convinced the driver to slow down and enjoy the scenery.
We saw miles of Indiana countryside punctuated by wild turkey, vultures, farm animals and unusual human specimens.
With the windows down and the cell phones put away, we talked to each other. I had a great time, and I realized that Sunday rides are not just about seeing what's down the road.
Sunday rides are for sharing a journey.
