Now is not the time to turn you away, but to welcome you to share our sadness and our healing with us. To those who might might see my sharing as irreverent or disrespectful, I invite them to abstain from reading my words until they are more comfortable. To those who will take this journey with me I remind you of words first uttered in the 16th Century by John Donne,
"No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
When I went for coffee yesterday at the home of my
eldest son, I was comforted and calmed by the beauty
of the snow, and it reminded me that snow is the great
equalizer. It makes my house and yours equally beautiful.
It covers the ground with no regard for what lies under,
ant its peaceful beauty awes us all.
Thanks snow. And thank you sun for shining through on
a day when we especially needed you.
And thank you, faithful friends, for hearing the bell,
and understanding our heartfelt expression to you,
that we are saddened by your loss.
Thank you for being part of my life! My thoughts are with you and all your family! Big hugs.
