WIFI? WHY Not!

Defective cup shown at right

Through no fault of my own, I'm trapped in the lobby of the largest hotel in DC, waiting for coffee to dry from my clothing. This has happened to me for two reasons: One, no one on this planet has yet developed the no-drip coffee mug and two, the largest hotel in DC cannot see fit to allow free WIFI in the rooms. According to the posting on the back of our room door, they can charge as much as $799.00 for the room when the right conditions prevail, such as the hosting of the International Order of Turnip Truck Drivers held each year on Feb. 30.

I came to the lobby to use my computer, and the ever-precious and costly WIFI, available for free in every sleezbag motel in the countty. I brought coffee from the room to avoid the $7 a cup fee here in WIFI Paradise.

My husband has a theory that the more you pay for a hotel room, the less you get in amenities. The higher the room rate, the lower your chances of having coffee in the room, an iron, a mini-fridge, or a window.  That theory of his is how I learned about sleezbag motels.
What is that roughly? A half cup?
We have a window looking directly at The National Cathedral, but the hotel is building a new box of rooms right in front of it.
There! Near the very center of the new building, at the top, See it? It would be a clearer photo if the hotel could afford to wash the windows.

Today I was going to blog about this fascinating city, I got my first taste of it yesterday as I walked the village-like streets near the hotel: fluorescent cops leaning into their speedy segues, hundreds of young people, all with backpacks, swarming around old nuisances like me, cafe's, galleries, bikes, scooters, and more cars than in the parking lot of Kroger on Senior Citizen Discount Day.

That good stuff will have to wait for tomorrow. Right now I must clutch my computer case to my chest and climb 8 flights of stairs to our room. There's no way I'm getting on the elevator smelling like stale coffee. Besides, I'm not dry yet.
