Diva Dogsitting

Yumi, left, arriving at Granny Wick's Dog Care Center

Yumi gettin' down a short while later

My dog Teddy's "cousin" Yumi arrived to spend a few days with us.
Okay, so she is cute, but she was just a dog until the night last winter a pit bull almost put her away. After much trauma and much money, the vet was able to put her eye back in its socket and in time she healed with her vision intact. Now she is a diva, the apple of my son's eye, and the most precious poodle on the planet. She has strict dietary rules and I was told by the owner that she is so cute she is a dognapping risk.
Yumi is clean and well groomed. She makes Teddy look old, scruffy and useless. Perhaps because he is. I like dogs that smell like dogs, and need a haircut and enjoy chewing people's legs off when they come to our door. Sometimes we play the doorbell game, just for fun. I sneak outdoors and ring our doorbell, inciting a total Teddy meltdown. He barks and snarls until he's out of breath. Then I let him settle back on the couch and we do it all over again.
Back to Yumi. I'm happy to say that after only 24 hours she has let her hair down. She's playing the doorbell game like a pro. She's grazing the kitchen floor discovering leftover food and heart pills. She's chasing squirrels and rabbits. We can't wait for a skunk to show up. She's quickly becoming my kind of dog.
I know Yumi's owner will appreciate my care and bring her back many times to visit.
