The Tanning Bed Farm

Occasionally this blog will not be posted at the crack of dawn. Early this morning my host and son, oddly the same person, invited me for coffee and a ride. We both like to explore, so this seemed normal. After he splurged on a cup of joe from McDonald's, we began winding down the Mississippi River. That may sound picturesque, but in these parts, the levy is so high you cannot see the river. So we turned our attention shoreward and eyeballed the dwellings along the road.
I became suspicious about this early morning ride when he took me to a huge complex of white buildings that didn't seem very friendly to visitors. It turned out to be a rest home he had selected for me. I think he liked it because of the restriction on visitors. I can just hear him now. "Gee, Mom, we'd have been out to see you last weekend, but, well, you know...no visitors."
I quickly reminded him that one of his brothers has already picked out a rest home for me called "The Silver Send-Off, located on a remote farm road in Indiana.

Our next stop was a new-fangled thing called a "Tanning Bed Farm." As a surprise gift he bought me one of the beds. He said I could spend all the time there I want, getting a tan and enjoying the warm Louisiana sun. At first, I thought it looked suspiciously like a grave site, but he pointed out that it's only a few inches deep. I'm actually a little ashamed for thinking what I thought. He's such a good boy.
I'm excited about tomorrow's ride. He's taking me on something called a zip line. It's a new kind of checkout at the grocery that is even faster than the express lane. That boy sure is nice to me!
